The Complete Research Workflow

Each SentiSignal tool answers a different question. Used in isolation, they provide partial insight. Used in sequence, they give you a comprehensive, multi-angle view of any asset's sentiment-price dynamics. Here is the step-by-step workflow.

Step 1: Start with the Chart

Open the asset page for your target (e.g., Bitcoin). Check the sentiment vs price chart for both 7-day and 30-day views. Look for:

  • Divergences — sentiment moving one direction while price moves another
  • Lead/lag patterns — does sentiment appear to shift before price?
  • Extreme readings — sentiment spikes that may signal turning points

This visual scan takes 2–3 minutes and gives you an intuitive feel for the current state before diving into quantitative analysis.

Step 2: Read AI Analysis

Click "Analyze chart" to generate an AI interpretation. The analysis covers three dimensions:

  • Price Action: What the price chart shows (trend, support/resistance, momentum)
  • Sentiment vs Price: How sentiment and price are interacting right now
  • News Impact: What specific stories are driving sentiment

The AI synthesizes what would take you 10+ minutes of manual analysis into a structured summary.

Step 3: Check Market Briefs

Read the last 5 Market Briefs for your asset. Briefs provide the narrative context — what story is the market telling about this asset right now? Understanding the narrative helps you interpret quantitative results with appropriate context.

Step 4: Review Latest Articles and Briefs

Browse the latest Articles and Market Briefs for your asset. Note any narrative shifts — a sudden change in the dominant story can precede significant price moves. This step also helps you understand what is driving the sentiment numbers you see on the chart.

Step 5: Run Correlation Sweep

Go to SentiLab and run a Correlation Sweep. This quantifies the visual patterns you observed in Step 1. Does sentiment actually lead price for this asset? At what lag? With what strength?

Use 90-day range, minQuality 0.7+, and check the Top Deviations Table for robustness.

Step 6: Run Source Predictability

Run Source Predictability for the same asset. Identify which specific sources to monitor most closely — not all news outlets contribute equally to price-predictive sentiment.

Step 7: Run Narrative Clustering

Run Narrative Clustering to check for media convergence patterns. When many sources cover the same story simultaneously, it can signal either a genuine paradigm shift or a herd behavior contrarian opportunity. Cross-reference with the narrative context from Steps 3 and 4.

Step 8: Synthesize

Combine all findings into a coherent thesis:

  • Chart visual (Step 1): What does the pattern look like?
  • AI analysis (Step 2): What does the AI think is happening?
  • Narrative context (Steps 3–4): What story is driving sentiment?
  • Quantitative evidence (Steps 5–7): Is sentiment actually predictive, and from which sources?

When all four angles align — visual pattern, AI assessment, narrative context, and statistical evidence — you have the strongest possible basis for a decision.

Step 9: Document

Save the experiment and write strategy notes documenting your thesis, the evidence supporting it, and what would invalidate it.

Time Investment

This complete workflow takes approximately 15–20 minutes for thorough analysis of one asset. For your primary trading assets, this is time well spent before making any significant decision.

For routine monitoring, you can abbreviate the workflow: Steps 1–4 daily (5 minutes), Steps 5–7 weekly or when conditions change (10–15 minutes), Step 8–9 whenever you form or revise a thesis.

Why This Matters

Most traders rely on one or two inputs for decisions. By systematically combining visual, qualitative, and quantitative analysis, you build a multi-dimensional view that is far more robust than any single signal. The workflow ensures you never skip a critical check and always have documented evidence for your conclusions. See this workflow in action with the Crypto Strategy Example next.
